QUEENSBERRY HILL

WANAKA

This house and location embodies everything the Central Otago region has to offer. Perched high on the Queensberry Hills overlooking the Clutha River, with Lake Hawea to the north and St Bathan's range to the east.

The brief was to create a warm, homely environment, whilst making the most of the views. The home had to fit into the surrounding rural landscape. This was achieved using schist and exposed timber as a throwback to the historic farmhouses that used to occupy the region.

Aesthetics aside, the materials were also chosen for their durability, helping to anchor the build in its surroundings, and combat the exposed location.
